A riddle was told recently at my coffee shop get togethers..
A 200-lb man goes to the gym for 6 days a week, for 5 months.
At the end of the 5 months, the man still weighs 200-lbs. How is this possible?
The promises given to us by our Father in Heaven are true. His judgements are fair and He gives us promises that
leave many of us (Christians) responding with "yes" and "Amen". Yes, those who wait on the Lord will grow strong -
there's more than physical strength we're talking about here.
Will there be, at times, overwhelming difficulties we face in this life? Heck yes! I've experienced plenty of them
myself. We stumble and fall because we rely typically on ourselves to do the work - not on God. We are not sufficient
enough (ourselves) to withstand the power of some of the storms that make it into our radar. But God.
God uses his protective hand, sheltering us from even the worst disasters life might throw at us.
Our heavenly Father is one of comfort and grace. He never goes back on his promises. Though our faith, He gives
us grace and renews us daily with the strength we need. Faith in his written word and His gospel is all we need -
trusting what God has told us to be true. We have the assurance and confidence that what He has told us cannot be
contradicted by reason. Or by fear. By the way, fear is a liar!
God loves us. He is good to us who wait on him, seeking him and his will for us - above anything else. For those of us
who feel we cannot complete the tasks set before us - well, His power is perfected in our weakness, and He shines
though; showing us that there's nothing too big (or small) that He can't handle.
The answer to the riddle is simple - he goes to the gym to deliver mail.
But, one could look further into it - what if the man's desire was to lose weight? See how this plays out?
Trust in God's promises to us, believing in what He has said. Wait on God. Perhaps those 200-lbs will come off
for the man - in God's timing.
So wait and trust. God will show up when you least expect him to.
